Evans (FED)

FOMC member Evans is the latest speaker from the Fed today, striking a somewhat Dovish tone. The Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Charles Evans said he:

  • needs more inflation confidence before liftoff
  • favours somewhat later liftoff than many Fed colleagues
  • may be well into 2016 before inflation headwinds fade
  • below 1% Fed rate at end of 2016 may be appropriate
  • seeks slower rate-rise path than 25bps every other meeting
